The Need

A series of community engagement surveys and round-table discussions were held with students, families, school staff and community members. The following needs were identified:

Inaccessible

Wildwood students with physical disabilities are currently excluded from outdoor play with their friends and peers.

Limitations

Due to its limited size, the city-owned playground is only available to students in Kindergarten to Grade 3 during school hours.

Community Need

70% of Wildwood residents live in multi-unit housing, relying on Wildwood Park as a communal backyard.

No Room for Growth

A planned housing development for First Nations & Metis families in Wildwood will immediately increase park usage.
